Premier Darrell Dexter announced today, March 5, the appointment of Lora MacEachern as associate deputy minister of Labour and Advanced Education. “Ms. MacEachern brings extensive government and senior leadership experience that will support our goal of a safe, educated and skilled workforce that is ready to capitalize on some of the biggest opportunities we have ever seen,” said Premier Dexter. Ms. MacEachern has spent the past year as senior executive director of the Safety Branch at the department, which includes the Occupational Health and Safety Division and the Office of the Fire Marshal. She has been involved with the continued implementation of recommendations by the auditor general on the Office of the Fire Marshal. She replaces associate deputy minister Jeff Conrad who is seconded to the Atlantic Workforce Partnership. Ms. MacEachern began her public service career in 1997 as a lawyer, serving as legal advisor to several government departments, including the Executive Council Office, and was part of the management team at the Justice department. The appointment is effective immediately.
