National Rail enquiries says it expects trains travelling from Stoke-on-Trent will be delayed until around 9am today (May 7) because of a trespass incident in the Congleton area. The problem is having an impact on Crosscountry, Virgin Trains, and North rail services with some passengers being told they may have to divert via Crewe. Read MoreWoman assisting police after incident at railway station A National Rail spokesman said: “A trespass incident between Macclesfield and Congleton is causing disruption to trains between Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent. “Trains may be delayed by up to 20 minutes, cancelled or diverted. “Disruption is expected to continue until approximately 9am.” Rail users are being told to check whether their train is affected before travelling and updates will be provided on #Congleton for people using Twitter.Issue resolved but delays continueNational Rail:The trespass incident between Macclesfield and Congleton has now been resolved and all lines between Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent have reopened.
